Progress in the Nursery

Hello lovely friends!

As some of you may know we are expecting a bundle of cuteness and joy in July and of course that means getting a nursery ready for his or her arrival!

I loved putting together our firstborn's nursery so I couldn't wait to get started on this one! And even though we don't know the gender as of today (we will tomorrow though!), we still did a few improvements that we knew we wanted for either gender.

So I invite you to come along and see what we've done so far!

If you remember, I shared my Boy & Girl Nursery Inspiration with you all a few months back. I was kind of all over the place as far as colors and styles go and I'm still not exactly sure where I'm taking this space.

I don't do mood boards. I do Pinterest. And I have pinned so many ideas and styles that it's kind of hard to narrow down all at once. I'm more of a "let's see where this takes us as we go along" kinda girl. It's fun, stress free and unexpected. And most importantly, it's worked for me before.

Before I show you what we have so far, take a look at what we were working with...

You can see all the gray paint swatches that attacked the wall...pretty, right? Ha, yeah right!

You can also see that this is s a very small room but that forces me to get very creative with furniture placement and in making this room not only fabulous but functional! I am not afraid of small rooms because there are so many things you can do with them to take them to their full potential.

This is what we have so far.....

So far, we have painted the walls and ceiling a light gray, added a ceiling fan, added crown molding, changed the curtains and got rid of the changing table.

But aren't you going to need a changing table, you ask?

This was actually my first step to create more space in this small nursery. It would have been so crowded in here had we kept the changing table and added a dresser.

My idea is to get a dresser and use the top of it as a changing station by adding a changing pad. Instant space saver, baby!

I love how the ceiling looks slightly darker than the walls when it's actually the same color! Didn't plan on that but it was a nice surprise!

And crown molding just makes a room look so much better, doesn't it?

I also plan on painting the crib a dark gray. The brown looks fine against the light gray walls but I want something different and it's an excuse to do something I love!

This glider is also going to get a nice makeover. I plan on painting the frame an off white and I'm having a friend of mine make zippered covers for the pads in a new pretty fabric. Oh, I can't wait for this one!!

That giraffe next to the glider was Lily's when she was a baby so it's definitely staying in the room for sentimental reasons.

This wall next to the window will be where the dresser will go. It's the perfect spot and I also plan on doing a fun gallery wall above it! You know me and my obsession with a good gallery wall! I have one in my living room and daughter's room, so of course this little one is getting one too!

You can't really see the curtains too much but I found them at Target and had to bring them home with me. They're a black and white tile pattern and will force me to stay away from the overly cutesy sweet nursery and do something the baby can grow into.

I also have big plans for the wall on the other side of the closet. It's the wall the door hits when open so I plan on making some book ledges like the one's I made for our living room. I think 4-5 ledges will look nice and accommodate plenty of books for the little one.

It's the only wall space I could use for book ledges so I'm taking it! And the book ledges aren't very thick so it's not going to be a problem when opening the door.

Well friends, that's all for right now!

We go in tomorrow to find out the baby's gender and we are beyond excited!

Lily is really rooting for a sister but hubby and I both feel it's a boy so we shall see! Either way, we are so blessed to have this baby!

You really have some great ideas and I love what you've done so far! Brilliant idea to use the top of the dresser for a changing station and I love the idea of book ledges. Can't wait to find out the gender!!!

Its truly a blessing that God is growing your beautiful family and that your child will grow up to fear the Lord.
