New Living Room Curtains & Other Living Room Updates

Hello friends!

The living room has undergone a few small but lovely changes in the last couple of weeks since you last saw it on my Summer Living Room Tour. This was totally unplanned but I always like those changes best!

One change led to another change which led to another change and well, you know how that goes. All these small changes are leading to more changes and I'm so excited about them!

The first change that got the ball rolling were these awesome new curtains I got from Target. I love that they have a neutral background for the teal pattern to stand out against.

And in case you don't remember what my old spray painted curtains looked like, here's a reminder:

But out with the old an in with the new!

You can also see the mantel has a few new additions as well!

The Framed Keys and Mini Seashell Specimen Art add so much more interest to the mantel, don't you think?

I actually bought 2 panels for each window but realized that one panel per window was enough since two made it look too bunched up. I ended using the other two panels on the sliding door that leads to our backyard.

It's obvious I love pattern but it's also obvious I now have to back off of it a tad bit. Which is why I also gave my lampshade a make-under.

I simply covered the old lampshade with a thick white linen fabric and trimmed the top and bottom with a neutral decorative trim I picked up at Hobby Lobby.

I've also made over my office space lampshade and my daughter's lampshade if you want to check that out.

This is what the lamp used to look like...the pattern and color was not working with the new curtains at all! I think it looks so much better now.

And did you notice the dark brown side table in the above picture?

It's now a lovely light gray!

And so is its twin sister!

I painted them gray with a homemade chalk paint recipe that I loved so much. All the details will be on the blog next week but I just had to give you a sneak peek!!

Who am I kidding, this is a full on reveal but who cares?!

The last change that went down in the living room was changing the knobs on the TV stand.

The knobs it came with were too small, cold and modern for my taste...

So I went into Hobby Lobby (I'm obsessed with their knob selection) and picked out these round neutral stone like knobs.

It's like they were made for this piece!

And even though painting this TV stand is in the near future, these new knobs already give it so much more personality!

And high five for my cords not showing (not that I actually have them organized..I just shoved them way back against the wall)!

So what do you guys think?

Anyone else doing small updates around the home?

Thanks for stopping by! Don't forget to follow Restoration Beauty to always be updated on all the fabulous that goes on around here!

I've been eyeing that trellis patterned curtain too from Target, it looks great in your living room dear. The table looks nicer painted and yes, Hobby lobby is an excellent source for affordable and pretty knobs. :-)

Yay for no cords! Hee! I could browse Hobby Lobby's knob section for hours. I love all the choices they have. You sure picked a good one! Your new curtains are fabulous! I also like the painted tables! I'm starting to realize I really enjoy painting furniture. I also love the additions to your mantel. You are on a roll, my friend! Lookin' good! :)

Love it all! I can't wait to hear more about the homemade chalk paint, been wanting to make my own too. I totally agree with you on the knobs, they go very well with the style of the room as well as dressing up the cabinet.

I love the pattern on the curtain, and all the modern detailing you’ve done around the room. But the curtain somehow looks faded to me?

Selene @ Restoration Beauty said...

Hi Madalyn! I love that DIY Chalk Paint- so easy and flawless!

Selene @ Restoration Beauty said...

Thanks, Bob. The pattern on the curtain is supposed to be a little "worn out" looking. I think the sunlight emphasized it even more though.

I just love those curtains. They gel so well with the interior of your home. My interiors is somewhat like yours, it’s more on the grayish blue theme. What is the material of the curtains you’ve used, and how much does a piece cost?

I’m inspired by one of those jar lanterns. It’s such a simple idea with some much conviction. Mounting mortgage companies near me the screw to tie the rope around the jar seem a tricky task, but the instructable on A Lo And Behold Life was helpful.
