If you're a Mom, I hope you had an amazing Mother's Day!! I sure did! I spent it with family and if you knew my family you'd know that's all you need to have one good time!
Today I thought it would be nice to get away from all the indoor DIY's that have been going on around here, and get some fresh air as I show you my COLORFUL FRONT PORCH I put together for Spring!
You all know I love color. It just makes me happy. And happy is what I needed to see after a long and colorless winter!
Now, I'm totally using the word "porch" loosely here. This obviously isn't a huge or even a decent sized porch. But it has a front door and a small area to work with so just humor me, okay?
Also, my apologies for the water run stain- I had just watered early that morning and I didn't feel like going through the hassle of cleaning it since I was already out there with camera in hand- I can be lazy like that.
Plus, you get to see me keeping it real. Word.
Rewind almost one year ago, and this is what my front porch looked like:
You can read more about that and see the dreary before by clicking here.
It was pretty, it had blue, it had red, it had yellow....but this girl needs constant change! By the time Spring was here I was way over what was going on and ready for something new...and more color!!
So come along as we explore all the pieces that make this small front porch so happy!
COLORFUL FRONT PORCH FOR SPRING
1. This colorful mat is what started it all.
I found it at Target and could have started to do a happy dance right there in the isle because it had all the colors that I'm loving!
Of course I contained myself. What kind of nut do you think I am?! A very sane one, let me tell ya.
2. Inspired by the colors in the mat, I whipped up this hello sign to hang in the front door.
I used an old frame and painted it a fun orangey pink color. I also painted the mat yellow and used more of my burlap to write hello in a bright aqua blue.
I sealed the frame with some glossy Mod Podge and couldn't be happier with it!
3. To liven things up even more, I planted some pretty flowers in pots.
I used the same pots as last year and planted some pretty flowers in white, orange (to match the frame) and magenta.
Don't ask what kind of flowers they are- I have no idea- I just told my hubby to pick up something with color- and he delivered!
4. To add texture and more of nature, I kept the driftwood that once was in the bucket and just placed it on the bench.
I love this element! I need to go back to the lake to get more driftwood!
I kept it very minimal since it's a small porch but I think the pops of color give it all the punch this space needs!
The mat and flowers were the only things purchased so I was able to bring life back to this space for under $25!
I may tweak it a bit and add a couple more things but I didn't want to wait till then to blog about it- I find when I do that, I never actually get around to it. So I'll just do an update if anything changes.
Again, keeping it real guys!
