Okay, a lot different!
If you've read my 'About Me' or 'Salvation' page then you know I'm a born again Christian who is just totally in love with God.
As much as I enjoy blogging about my DIY projects and my latest beauty find, what I enjoy above all is encouraging others, especially women.
Seriously, anytime I'm asked to speak at our women's conference or women's meetings, I'm as giddy as can be!
Which sometimes makes me talk super fast but I don't have to worry about that right now because you can't hear me! Although my fingers are going pretty fast right about now!!
I think we can all agree that a little encouragement is always welcomed, right?
Okay, let's roll!
I've been thinking a lot about what a lot call "self-confidence" or "self-esteem" and how it's been such a challenge for women to really love themselves for who God created them to be.
I've been there and the challenge still arises every now and then, trust me.
Letting you all see my face without any makeup is my personal way to overcome that challenge. It's my way of saying, "Yeah, I know I don't look perfect without makeup but I don't care! I'm still the same person with or without it and an awesome one at that!"
Yes, I talk to myself like that. And no, it doesn't mean I'm vain.
I just who I am in Christ Jesus.
I love what it says in Philippians 1:6:
And I am convinced and sure of this very thing, that He Who began a good work in you will continue until the day of Jesus Christ [right up to the time of His return], developing [that good work] and perfecting and bringing it to full completion in you.
What's happening in us is a GOOD WORK!
Even if allowing God to mold us sometimes doesn't feel too good it's still a good work!
We are all under construction. God is doing something in all of us!
The construction phase of a building not only isn't the prettiest but it's also the messiest.
But it HAS to happen in order for that building to fully function for what it was intended.
Sometimes it can get messy when God is dealing with us or we are on a transitional point in life. But that doesn't mean we have to be miserable.
I choose to take joy in all that God is doing in me, even if the process gets uncomfortable.
I'm not going to get mad if he is challenging me in one area of my life or beat myself up if He corrects me. It's all part of completing that good work.
Am I against self confidence or self esteem? NO! I just think it goes so much deeper than that.
There's a total higher level of confidence that is found in God. It's the kind of confidence that says:
I'm not perfect.
I'm still learning.
God is working on me.
I'm under construction and loving it!
And just for fun, doesn't this picture just scream confidence?
I told her I wanted to take a picture of her with all the workbooks she's completed and she just gave me the biggest smile ever!
She didn't ask if she looked okay or to give her time to fix her hair...she just went for it!
And when I showed her the picture she said, "Oh Mom, that's a good one!"
I love that!
I think we can all learn from children!
Thanks for stopping by!
