Before I go into this tutorial I want to say that my heart is with Boston and I'm praying for everyone who was affected by this one way or another. May the God of peace surround you with His love and comfort.
One of my favorite beauty posts thus far has been my One Brush Eye Look because it goes to show how far you can go with makeup without having to have every brush you see in Sephora or any other store.
Since I had so much fun creating that look, I decided to take it one step further and create another eye look using ZERO brushes! That's right...no brushes needed to create this pretty plum smokey eye!
So get all your makeup out- sans eye brushes and let's get this party started!
I used my Urban Decay Naked Palette for this look and my ring finger to apply all the shadows in every step. Be sure to have a paper towel on hand to wipe off your finger after applying each color.
You can use any similar shadows you may have or create a color combination of your own!
Here is my palette with the eyeshadows I used numbered in the order they were used. Number 5 is optional..you'll see why in the end.
I applied the first color (1), a plum, on my lid and blended it by cleaning the shadow from my finger on a paper towel and gently rubbing all the edges of the shadow.
On my crease I applied a mauve color (2), again making sure I blended it very well. It takes a little more effort to blend with your fingers but it is achievable.
Next, I added a little black (3) to the outer V area to add dimension. I used the very tip of my ring finger for this application. I also made sure I cleaned off my finger very well before applying my highlight color (4), a shimmery nude to my brow bone and my inner eyes. This help brighten things up nicely.
This step is optional: I followed my tip on making shadows pop and dabbed a shimmery pink (5) only to the center portion of my lid to bring some more dazzle. I just love this quick and easy tip- it really packs a punch!
I also incorporated all the colors on my lower lash line. The plum color (1) went on 2/3 of my eye. The mauve(2) slightly under the plum to blend. The black (3) on my outer 1/3 (very well blended) and my shimmery pink (5-optional) right on the center of it all.
And all of those colors, with my finger replacing the usual 3-5 brushes I normally would use, gave me this result:
Pretty awesome, huh? And I'm not putting my skills (if any) on a high horse here, but seriously, no brushes...come on!
So if you're traveling and forgot to pack your brushes, or if all your brushes are dirty (like mine usually are), fret not! Your greatest beauty tool is right at the tip of your finger!-->
